These digital technologies lead to increased automation, predictive maintenance , self - optimization of process improvements, and, above  all , a new level of efficiencies and responsiveness to customers not previously possible. This is what is called Industry 4.0 .

मैन्युफैक्चरर्स नई तकनीकों को एकीकृत कर रहे हैं, जिनमें इंटरनेट ऑफ थिंस (आईओटी), क्लाउड कंप्यूटिंग और एनालिटिक्स, एआई और मशीन लर्निंग शामिल हैं, जो वहां की भविष्यवाणी सुविधाओं और पूरे ऑपरेशन में हैं।

ये स्मार्ट फैक्ट्रियां उन्नत सेंसर, एम्बेडेड सॉफ्टवेयर और रोबोटिक्स से लैस हैं जो डेटा एकत्र और विश्लेषण करती हैं और बेहतर निर्णय लेने की अनुमति देती हैं।

उत्पादन संचालन के डेटा को ईआरपी, आपूर्ति श्रृंखला, ग्राहक सेवा और अन्य उद्यम प्रणालियों के परिचालन डेटा के साथ जोड़कर और भी अधिक मूल्य बनाया जाता है ताकि पहले की गंदी जानकारी से दृश्यता और अंतर्दृष्टि के पूरे नए स्तर तैयार किए जा सकें।

ये डिजिटल प्रौद्योगिकियां बढ़ी हुई स्वचालन, भविष्य कहनेवाला रखरखाव, प्रक्रिया में सुधार के स्व-अनुकूलन, और सबसे ऊपर, ग्राहकों के लिए दक्षता और प्रतिक्रिया का एक नया स्तर पहले संभव नहीं था।  इसे ही उद्योग 4.0 कहते हैं।
