Personal Development (Passions & Ambitions pursuing)
It is rightly said that personal development involves process of understanding and developing oneself in order to achieve one’s fullest potential .it is a vital part in a person’s growth, success and fulfillment. People often hold higher regard to academic and professional achievement and neglect personal growth. Personal development means investing in yourself so that you can manage yourself effectively regardless of what life might bring your way.
What plays a dominant role in shaping one’s personality in terms of career and growth is passion. Choosing the right career and being successful in it depends to a large extent on your level of passion in that chosen field. If you love computers, but end up being a welder, then undoubtedly you're going to feel miserable both at work and in life. Rather, if you choose a career in computers like a software programmer or a systems administrator; you are more likely to feel on top of the world, and this happiness pervades all aspects of your life. In short, passion can be a more powerful motivator when compared to other financial and non-financial incentives. It is what drives us to develop us fully.
Personal development planning is the process of creating an action plan based on awareness, values, reflection, goal-setting and planning for personal development within the context of a career, education, relationship or for self-improvement. It is a way for people to assess their skills and qualities. It allows individuals’ to consider their aim and set goals, both long and short term, to realize and maximize their potential.
There is no set time or space that personal development has to be carried out it. It should be an ongoing evaluation therefore it can take place in a care setting, set up in a training environment or a meeting with a mentor or it could simply be as you’re walking along the road reflecting about your day.
The benefits that accrue to us when we set ourselves on the path of personal development include-
• Self-awareness
• More motivation
• A sense of direction
• Greater resilience
• More fulfilling relationships
• Improved focus and effectiveness
In the simplest of terms, passion is doing something that excites you every time, and makes you feel happy and contended at the end of the day. It is a feeling that enthuses you to work more in a field because you find happiness doing it. This passion can be different for every individual, and can be just about anything from cooking to sculpting, and everything in between. There are many examples of people who have been hugely successful simply because their driving force at work was their passion. A case in point was Steve Jobs, the founder and ex-CEO of Apple Inc. Jobs was one of the most successful entrepreneurs, and he attributed much of his success to his passion for technology. He strongly believed in doing what he loved, and success was a by-product of following this passion, and not the end goal by itself. Other examples include Bill gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Richard McDonald, Kevin Plank, Walt Disney, Dr.Seuss and Jim Koch. For each of these successful entrepreneurs, passion has been their driving force, and this is what has propelled them to where they are today.
If you want to taste similar success, the first step is to figure out your passion.Next, set up your own personal development goals and chart a roadmap to meet your ambitions. Work, work and work towards it, and you're sure to be successful.
