    Valves Guide  Glossary of Valve Terms  ACCUMULATOR  A vessel in which a gas is trapped and compressed by the liquid in a hydraulic system, thus storing energy to supply liquid under pressure to the system when needed.  ACME THREAD  A flat topped screw thread for power transmission.
